Its such a shame that in some parts of the world, especially Africa, there are people living in filth, surving on scavenging for food and rummaging through rubbish to feed their families,..’Sh*thole countries’ as allegedly said by Trump.

Such a sad life style has left the world shocked by the collapse of the Hulene dump site, the only official dump for Maputo’s 3.5 million people covering around 17 hectares and situated approximately 10 km (6 miles) from the heart of Maputo in a highly populated and heavily impoverished area collapsed in heavy rain and destroyed seven houses and killed 17 people at around 3am local time yeasterday
Heavy machinery was brought to assist in the search and rescue of buried victims with more bodies likely to be recovered.
Residents of the area have moved their families living near the site for safety reasons as they fear another collapse of the dump site.
in 2017 a landslide collapse at Ethiopia’s largest rubbish dump killed about 65 people or more and they, like in the Maputo collapse were most probably squatting near the landfill site scavenging for food and rummaging through the rubbish for items to sell. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
