23 years after ending apartheid rule, blacks are marginalised while South Africa land and financial resources are owned and controlled by whites .

Twenty three years after the end of apartheid rule in South Africa the country is still under a white monopoly capital system where land and financial resources are owned and controlled by the filthy rich whites while the indigenous black population are marginalised and poor.

A comment given by one of our readers Goodwill Moyo on this thread says

“That’s why they are now singing a new hymn called radical economic transformation.Numbers don’t lie .Who remains the marginalised majority in South Africa ?. WM capitalists advocated for and got reconciliation without loss after independence. They lost nothing .The indigenous people lost their lives and loved ones to the apartheid struggle and have nothing to show for it .They failed to ask the right questions .Winnie Mandela once said ” You can be in power whilst u don’t actually have any real power ” and back then was labelled controversial. I guess she was right .There is nothing wrong with economically empowering the indigenous people of any African country. South Africa should stop being apologetic about claiming it’s heritage”

Sean Amers says “yea…I am not against change…I am saying…let’s have meaningful change…not like Zimbabwe where…even though the country is nominally richer than it was before independence…the black people are worse off…all the wealth is being enjoyed by a new elite…which happens to be black…that’s capitalism dude”..

Sean went on to say Mugabe could have built three more Rhodesias with the new wealth in diamonds, platinum and gold that Zimbabwe discovered after independence…A particular phrase struck me here…white monopoly capital system…basically CAPITALISM…now before colonialism, the wealth and spin offs thereof that we now claim had been lying idle in the African soil for thousands of years…we simply didn’t have the wherewithal to exploit them…along with the ships carrying whitemen came the wheel and other such things and we notices that clearly…these things were valuable…reminds me of the saying “a gold ring in a pigs nose” but anyway…

He added , I don’t feel that it is fair to ask your neighbour for the field you borrowed him back while his crop is still in the ground…anyway…a way forward…the real challenge here is CAPITALISM..and the redistribution of wealth.are we going to allow South Africa to become another Zimbabwe, where the nation’s wealth is enjoyed by only a few while the rest are left to squalor in abject and ever increasing poverty??? or are we going to build on what is already there and not destroy and this time share the profits more equitably amoung the races…remember…since independence…Zimbabwe has had New mineral deposits of gold, platinum, diamonds and other but its population has benefited nothing…and by the way…

Sean Amers also adds that “I think the Lupane gas reserves were mortgaged to secure Grace’s immunity…why would Zuma start talking about that particular resource only at SADC…South Africa has had its eye on this venture for some time now…so…greed will be greed…and the only colour greed knows is green…yes…matters are not so black and white…what kind of change do we want?”

newzimbabwe vision says we should look at the South African situation , compare it with Zimbabwe next door and draw lessons from the ongoing situations in Zimbabwe after President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu pf war veterans forcibly evicted whites from commercial farms, grabbed mines and businesses since the year 2000.

The government also introduced a 51 percent ownership scheme where all investment by foreigners or non indigenous people has got to have at least 51 percent ownership by the local indigenous population. It can be argued that, this is why Zimbabwe’s economy has collapsed, after white capital flight and balck empowerment which only saw Mugabe, Zim 1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats grow to become overnight filthy rich black multi millionaires especially after the diamond rush less than a decade ago.

Look at Grace Mugabe who is currently on a buying spree of multi million rand properties in South Africa, case in point only recently she purchased a mansion for R45 million property in a country where she has no respect for, as shown by how she violently assaulted a South African Model in South Africa ‘Gabriella Engels’ 20 and was granted diplomatic immunity by South Africa, blocking her arrest and prosecution.

It is evident that if the situation in South Africa is carelessly handled like the Zimbabwean situation, we will see a creation of the filthy rich ‘better blacks’ who are simply black faces in a white mask as they will monopolise wealth and power at the very least like whites forced out but also more oppressively as they employ the same draconian laws, state violence against the locals and have little or no interest in the suffering South African population. Lets hope positive lessons will be drawn from the disastrous Zimbabwean situation.

All the millions that the filthy rich criminals created by black empowerment and indigenisation in Zimbabwe is clearly being externalised to neighbouring countries like South Africa, the Middle East and offshore accounts worldwide, while the ordinary black people are worse off now under black rule than they were under racist whites.

There is a common belief in Zimbabwe that, under the racist white Ian Smith Rhodesian regime, the black man would be forced to sit at the back in the rain on a bakkie while the white man’s dog would be in the front seat with the boss.
Now the black man can sit in the front with the white man safe from rain and elements of the weather.

However under oppressive white rule, the white man bought steak for his dog and gave porridge to the black man and the black man was always full but now under black rule, the black man is starving as he can’t afford to feed his family, let alone himself. The moral of the lesson is that the whites would look at an orange tree, continuously nature it and use a ladder to reach the fruit, but the black man can only look at an orange tree and straight away chop it down for firewood, planks and only to have two or three oranges at the top, then go hungry for a few more years while hoping another orange tree may magically grow from ‘annointed seeds’ by filthy rich multi millionaire prophets mushrooming all over and taking advantage of gullible Zimbabweans.

Zimbabweans have got the land, agriculture has collapsed, the nation is starving, life is unbearable for blacks while Mugabe, Zim1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats now own helicopters, private jets and multimillion dollar mansions . Are we heading for a similar scenario across South Africa? Time will tell! DISCUSS! By Sibusiso Ngwenya
