A Small Man In Stature But A Giant In The Music Industry, The Rock Icon, ‘Prince’ Has Died, Aged 57

The singer and songwriter musician ‘Prince’ has died in his home at the age of 57. He was  found unresponsive in a lift in his home , the Paisley Park recording studio complex in Minnesota.

The cause of death is undisclosed until a full autopsy has been conducted. Prince the son of two Musicians, a man whose music has spurned decades, age, generations and journals, is widely viewed as a legend and an icon of the music world.

In a fourty year career, the ‘Purple Rain’ icon, not just a cultural icon, Prince Rogers Nelson, more affectionately known as ‘Prince’ managed to maintain control of his music with 39 albums which sold hundreds of millions of records.

Prince who cancelled a performance recently and later a man whose  private Jet was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing for medical assistance because of the flu, was found unresponsive after a panicked 999 call. The emergency services declared him dead after they failed to revive the music icon after all attempts to revive him failed.

Prince was seen as a genius, who transcended generations and racial boundaries.

The musician who wrote songs since he was seven years old,  fought with producers, retreated from the industry and reinvented himself, and would actually hold shows in his home.. The music enigma, whose character, confidence and charisma , while a small man in stature, was actually a giant  in the music industry. He wrote , recorded music, performed music, played every instrument himself and did internet perfomances.

The death of Prince is a global loss because of his multiple talents with worldwide orbituaries pouring in from all over.

President Barrack Obama led orbituaries, saying on his official twitter , “Today the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince,” Obama wrote. “Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent.” By Sibusiso Ngwenya
