AIR ZIMBABWE’S ONLY SERVICEABLE PLANE, IMPOUNDED by the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) over unpaid debt..(hmn-‘Zimbabwe is open for business!’
This is a clear indication of Zimbabwe’s economy, yet Mnangagwa claims Zimbabwe is open for business. We have now been told that the only serviceable plane in Air Zimbabwe, was seized at OR Tambo International Airport In South Africa on Wednesday.
The OR Tambo International Airport incident comes soon after someone whose identity we will protect but regularly travels on flights, had flown to South Africa on business when his shoes were stolen in the luggage handling process after checking in for his flight. Passengers are regularly warned to place such items as shoes , one shoe in a different bag so that when the handling section rip the bags open to steal they will only have a single shoe.
www.newzimbabwevision.com advises everyone to opt to cling film wrap their luggage and never pack pairs of shoes in one bag, plus to keep valuable items such as passports and credit cards, and other items as secure as possible biut most of all, to ensure that all their luggage is fully insured. This kind of theft is now regular at OR Tambo International Airport In South Africa as luggage is being processed for loading , so be alert.
It threfore comes a s a major dissapointing factor now to realise that AIR ZIMBABWE’S only plane, was impounded by the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) over unpaid debt at at OR Tambo International Airport In South Africa , when infact the president Emmerson Mnangagwa flies around in private jets and proudly claims-Zimbabwe is open for business!
The broke airline owes ACSA payments for landing, parking and passenger service fees for flights into Johannesburg.”That’s what is happening. It’s a temporary suspension over a cumulative debt. We’re in discussion with our shareholder (government of Zimbabwe) and we’re hopeful that we’ll find a solution,” Mazonde said, according to TimesLIVE.
The seizure of the plane forced the airline to cancel its Johannesburg-Harare flight on Wednesday evening. The aircraft also flies to Bulawayo and Victoria Falls before turning back to Harare every morning to fly Johannesburg passengers and position for the evening flight back to Harare. It is not the first tie Air Zimbabwe has had aircraft seized by creditors. Bid Air Services of South Africa and American General Suppliers in London previously applied to attach their planes for non-payment of debts. Air Zimbabwe was forced to discontinue the London flight as its debts, now estimated at US$300 million, mounted.
The seizure of the aircraft adds to the woes of the airline which has over the years broken records, including flying with only one passenger, as it struggles to restore customer confidence after successive years of mismanagement. – ZimLivesee more at http://newzimbabwevision.com/air-zimbabwes-only-plane-impounded-by-the-airports-company-of-south-africa-acsa-over-unpaid-debt-hmn-zimbabwe-is-open-for-business/
