Are Zimbabwe’s Political Violence & Abductions, A Taste Of 2018 Ballot?- Eric Knight

Former Radio Zimbabwe Disk Jockey Eric Knight has lamented that politics in Zimbabwe has become more dirty that it is expected as violence and abduction of opposition members has been reported since year  2000 to date.

“Politics is a dirty game is one of the most over used adages I always hear. More often than not I have always challenged those who sing it. Why is it only a dirty game to some parts of the world and not to all?” he said.

“Why is it dirty to my Zimbabwe or seemingly so? Why don’t we hear about the inter-Party violence in Europe, in USA or at least in one of these western countries? Why are there no political abductions like the Dzamara style?”

“Why don’t we hear David Cameron insulting or character-assasinating Corbyn or any Labour Party officials? I have heard many times Zanu PF officials demonising MDC officials and yes I have heard MDC T Leaders saying equally poisonous things about Zanu PF people,” he added.

“Zimbabwe’s politics have become so dirty that even people from the same Party are brutalising and killing each other in the name of factions or camps.”

He said it happened only 2 days ago in Chitungwiza even if there is no Elections in Zimbabwe right now! People are being arrested for staging peaceful demonstrations as they seek to be heard, as if it is unconstitutional.

“Yes it happened in my Harare on Saturday! Even within the main opposition Parties people who once were bedfellows are now cats and dogs, they don’t see eye to eye anymore because of the scramble for positions not responsibilities.

“I just wonder, is it so difficult to differ politically and yet respect the fact that we can not all be the same? Can I honestly be your enemy just because I have a different political belief to yours..such that you would rather want me dead. Amazing. Its sad, its disheartening and discouraging,” Knight said.

“Is this a taster of what will happen when Election time comes? If so, then my fellow Zimbabweans fasten your seat belts, we are in for a very rough ride ahead. It is time to think with your heads, not your stomachs! My country needs new and God fearing Leaders who respect Lives. I insist, Politics is a clean game. It is the players who are dirty. Its time to go for squeaky clean players who are also prayers. God bless Zimbabwe! God bless Africa!”by Stephen Jakes
