BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH:BIBLE 23- DISCIPLINE: Revelation 3:19 ‘Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent’.

Family is important to everyone and discipline forms an integral part of family life . Discipline will always be vital, understandably in general, painful to all including those imparting or receiving it. However, to discipline is to impart wisdom and a blessing .

All loving parents discipline their children. God disciplines us all, because we are his family. He does so, as our father, out of love for us because he wants to lead us to repentance and righteous lives, by stopping us from straying onto the wicked paths of Satan.

It is a time to remember family, so take a moment and reflect upon the importance of discipline and how it has shaped your life, how you can instil discipline through building up your family as God expects of all of us to do. www.newzimbabwevision.com encourages discipline amongst all because we are all children of God. It is important to state that in today’s culture of human rights, ‘a rod’ in the bible, is a reference to discipline, not beatings or assaults, therefore we encourage all to live according to the law and be disciplined and the Holy spirit will guide them through life. Remember :2 Timothy 3:16-17 ’16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work’.

1-Deuteronomy 8:5-6 ‘5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.

6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him’.

3-Hebrews 12:8 ‘If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all’.

4-Proverbs 13:24 ‘Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them’

5- Proverbs 3:11-12 ’11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in’

6- Proverbs 29:15 ‘A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom,

but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother’.

7-Hebrews 12:9 ‘Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!’

8-Proverbs 12:1 ‘Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,

but whoever hates correction is stupid.’

9-Job 5:17 ‘Blessed is the one whom God corrects;

so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty’

10-Proverbs 22:15 ‘Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,

but the rod of discipline will drive it far away’

11-Psalm 94:12 ‘Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord,

the one you teach from your law’

12- Proverbs 23:13-14 ’13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish them with the rod, they will not die.

14 Punish them with the rod and save them from death’.

13-Proverbs 25:28 ‘Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control’.

14- 2 Timothy 1:7 ‘For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

15-Proverbs 19:18 ‘Discipline your children, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to their death.’

16-Hebrews 12:10 ‘They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness’.

17-Ephesians 6:4 ‘Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord’

18-Hebrews 12:11 ‘No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it’

19-James 1:2-4 ‘2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything’

20-1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ’24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize’.

21- Psalm 103:10-13 ‘Psalm 103:10-13 ’10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him

22-Hebrews 12:5-7 ‘5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,

and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,

6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,

and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?’
