Botswana Police Arrest Six Zimbabwean Member Crime Syndicate Terrorising Gaborone & Surrounding Areas

POLICE in Botswana have reportedly arrested a six-member gang of Zimbabweans believed to have been committing a series of robberies and break-ins in Gaborone and surrounding areas.

Botswana’s Voice newspaper reported that various stolen items which include television sets, laptops, cellphones, cash and borehole equipment was recovered a week ago and was now being kept at Mogoditshane Police Station.

The paper indicated that six Zimbabwean men were arrested and one of them is said to be building a lodge in Kumakwane, while another one owns a restaurant in Mochudi.

The suspects were identified as Thabani Nkomo, Ishmael Chamakaona, Zvenyika Mukanganise, Paul Sambadoti, Arnold Kadonda and Lovemore Mushidza. The six have since appeared before a Broadhurst Magistrates’ Court charged with a spate of crimes that began in June.

Mukanganise, pleaded guilty and asked magistrate Gennai Janson to free the other five men as he said they had nothing to do with the crimes.

The court, however, turned down Mukanganise’s request and ordered all the six men to be locked up to allow for completion of police investigations.
