BULAWAYO COUNCIL urges residents to use borehole water only for garderning as as it has no up to date water quality results.

Thousands of Bulawayo residents risk contracting water borne disease by drinking borehole water in the city.

The local authority says it cannot guarantee its suitability for human consumption as it has no up to date water quality results.

Council is due to introduce a 24 hour water cuts regime in November.
“The biggest challenge we have is that our teams have not done tests on borehole water in a while to determine whether the water is safe for consumption or not,” said city mayor Martin Moyo.

During the water cuts period thousands of residents would rely on borehole water which is not safe.

“We are encouraging residents to stock adequate water for drinking and cooking. Borehole water should be used for gardening purposes”. source-byo24
