Bulawayo Installs Its First Solar Traffic Lights At Intersection Cecil Avenue And Coghlan Road
Zimbabwe is currently facing a harsh economic environment due to Zanu PF’s mismanagement. Nothing more than poor service delivery in electricity, speaks volumes about Mugabe’s failure. Nationwide there is a critical power shortage accredited to poor quality rainfall and low water levels in Kariba dam hence the inability to fully run the Kariba hydro project.
Bulawayo City, which has a total of 90 traffic intersections , has now finally caught up with innovation in the use of solar power, with the commissioning of the first solar traffic lights by, Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor Martin Moyo at the intersection of Cecil Avenue and Coghlan Road at a cost of US$8, 000.
The solar panels and batteries were supplied by Solar-Tech Africa
