12,000 firefighters were brought in to fight Redding area Carlifornia fire about 230 miles (370 kilometers) north of San Francisco has destroyed more than 500 buildings destroyed 139 square miles (360 square kilometers) / 150 acres (61 hectares).of area and forced roughly 50,000 people from their homes, threatening more than 4,500 structures.
