On Wednesday 23/12/15 Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili announced a surprise  resignation from office, a position he has held since 2013. Georgian media, have advanced speculations that, because his party’s popularity has fallen, President Mikheil Saakashvili  would step down to channel his focus on campaigning to parliamentary elections for  November 2016.
