Barrack Obama vetoes bill that would have allowed victims and relatives of 9/11 to sue Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is known to have warned of severe economic consequences after threatening to dump US$750 billion of investment in US if the bill allowing 9/11 victims and relatives to sue the Saudi Arabian government and individuals linked to the 9/11 attacks.

This came to light soon after the recent  declassification of the 28 pages report on the 9/11 attacks 15th annivessary of the horrendous 9/11 attacks on US soil in which planes were crashed into the world trade centre twin towers, near the Pentagon and fields in Pennsylvannia by terrorists.

A total of approximately 3000 people died and this includes 265 on board the four planes, used by the 19 terrorist hijackers who crashed some of the planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. 15 of the hijackers are reportedly from Saudi Arabia.

Surviving victims and relatives were looking forward to finally being able to sue Saudi Arabia for its involvement in the worst terrorist attacks on US soil in history and were awaiting the passing of a bill to that effect.

However the US president Barrack Obama has crashed that hope, by vetoing  the bill, citing that the bill threatened US interests.

The bill would potentially threaten  sovreignity, US citizens and interests  on foreign soil as they become targets for a backlash or reprisals if it became law hence President Obama’s veto. By Sibusiso Ngwenya

BREAKING NEWS: Reports, say US led coalition planes, strike Syrian forces, killing 62 and injuring 100 armed forces

BREAKING NEWS: REPORTS SAY, US LED COALITION PLANES, STRIKE SYRIAN FORCES, using two F-16 fighter planes and two A10 ground attack planes, killing 62 SYRIAN servicemen and injuring 100, potentially opening up ISIL advancement corridor as , in that area, there are only ISIL insurgents, in an area that holds massive support for the Syrian government.

This occured in four strikes at around 5 oclock local time

Russians consider the coalition airstrike as evidence of lack of sharing intelligence and coordinate and unwillingness to cooperate with Russia on coordinates of targets. The current ceasefire agreement is seriously threatened by this open aggression between active forces operating in Syria, through this violation of a sovereign state and the truce.

The US coalition strike came after an online video of US backed rebels chasing American forces from a Syrian town of Northern Aleppo , bordering Turkey, calling them pigs, infidels and threatening that they are going to slaughter them. More news to follow………. By Sibusiso Ngwenya

‘Zanu PF apologists condemn Pastor Evan Mawarire , #This Flag, for dumping the revolution’
Whenever we read articles about the successful #This Flag, revolution that triggered a sense of unity amongst the oppressed, it is not difficult to separate the Zanu PF apologists from genuine oppressed people.
It is important to look at the present situation that Zimbabweans live under. Firstly, in comparison to life under the oppressive white Rhodesian Ian Smith regime, to many Zimbabweans life under Mugabe is indeed, ‘living hell on earth’ for the suffering, oppressed, broke, hungry Zimbabweans.
It is only now that Zimbabweans begin to realise that Mugabe’s rule is only a change of skin colour from white under Ian Smith to black rule, but same, security forces, legislation and other oppressive tactics and brutality used against the people.
We all now accept that we are under ‘black oppressors of blacks’ Mugabe’s Zanu PF, however, under the Rhodesian Ian Smith, the black man ate porridge while the master’s dog ate T-bone steak but the black man always had a full satisfied stomach.
Under the US$15 billion dollar thief, Mugabe, Zimbabweans are so desperate that , in general cannot afford a plate full of porridge like under Ian Smith.
Under Ian Smith, Zimbabweans had Service Delivery in Employment, Education, Health care, Housing, Transport, Employment and other critical services. Mugabe spent 11 years in prison under Ian Smith, where he managed to attain numerous degrees from abroad because in prison he had the comfort of university education, good health care, food, clothing and books, all luxuries which are unaffordable and inaccessible under the despot led regime.
Now going to prison is effectively ablife sentence because you are generally likely to die in prison due to starvation or disease or even come out sick and dying in the end.
Pastor Evan Mawarire , #This Flag campaign was successful because the pastor articulated the issues above. The ordinary street person in Zimbabwe, identified with these issues, hence the great support behind the movement.
That said it is critical that we all acknowledge that such a brave public stance that went global by Pastor Evan Mawarire , #This Flag campaign, is associated with inherent dangers which include arrest as he experienced, harrassment, torture, dissappearance and death where possible effected by Mugabe’ Zanu PF stalwarts and securocrats who monopolise wealth and power.
Great credit to Pastor Evan Mawarire , #This Flag campaign for regenerating the lost pride in our national flag and building aspirit of united, absolute defiance against oppressive authority.
Pastor Evan Mawarire made no secret about the fact that , #This Flag campaign did not belong to him but rather, it was a people movement fighting a cause for the people by the people of Zimbabwe who were suffering under a debilitating economy.
To the ‘Discerning Eye, newzimbabwevision, he was right, in high tailing aboard the first smoking thing out of town , via South Africa to the safety of USA with his family  because he would have lost his life and or including other members of his family.
He did well by taking the democratic road of not personalising a movement, party or struggle as some of our opposition leaders and Mugabe do in their own parties. Evan Mawarire played his part well, awakened the Zimbabwean spirit of fighting against oppression then stepped back for the people of Zimbabwe to take up the campaign, run with it and take it to greater heights.
Listening to Zanu PF apologists, and #This Flag campaign distractors is a mistake that will take our fight against oppression back to square one. Mugabe has successfuly led the biggest political deceit in Zimbabwe’s history and its time people turned that around by ejecting him from power now!
Evan Mawarire, did what millions would not dare to do, played his part well and deserves to be in a better place with his family. Allowing movements to be personalised means people will always falsely think short of that leader, the movement is dead as we continuously see in Zanu PF and key opposition. Wake up Zimbabwe, Evan Mawarire, has created the platform for you, use it to build a powerful struggle against oppressive authority, subvert the illegitimate Zanu PF regime and unseat Mugabe and his Zanu Pf in 2018 general elections.
Instead of condemning Evan Mawarire, lets take closer introspection of our situation and acknowledge we are part of the problem faced by Zimbabwe because we mourn 24/7 yet we vote Mugabe back into power and allow him to use, abuse, maim, kill our own kith and kin.
If the people of Zimbabwe, unite, refuse to follow any tribalism, cessation, divisional politics , personalisation of struggles and despot leaders, we could alter the course of politics well before the 2018 elections. As Zimbabweans, we face a common enemy to peace, justice, equality, democracy and unity of all races and tribes, namely Mugabe, Zim1 family Zanu PF stalwarts and securocrats who loot national wealth and resources by continuously monopolising wealth and power.
We cannot afford to foolishly walk into the 2018 elections without necessary ‘Electoral reforms’that will allow free and fair elections to take place, otherwise it will simply be , escorting Mugabe and his Zanu PF to the ballot for yet another stolen victory by Mugabe.
Lets use the power of our vote and refuse to vote for any leader whether MDC T, MDC, Mavambo Kusile Dawn etc except a united body that will unite everyone under one umbrella in a democratic force powerful enough to push for ‘NO REFORMS NO ELECTIONS! and unseat Mugabe and his Zanu PF in 2018….Wake up Zimbabwe,…DISCUSS!

‘US Is Reportedly Close To Establishing A Military Airfield In Botswana’

This is not the first time that the southern Africa country, which is the current chair of the regional bloc SADC, is linked to the US military projects. Speculation was rife in the 1990s that Botswana was hosting a United States airbase

The US embassy in Gaborone this week confirmed that plans are at an advanced stage to set up a military airfield in Botswana.

There are claims that with the planned military airfield, a heavy American military presence in Botswana is also anticipated.

Sunday Standard was unable to establish whether the anticipated mini-airbase would be built inside Thebephatswa Airbase or at a different location in the country.

In 2013 both the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and US embassy denied speculation that the construction of a military facility bankrolled by the US Department of Defence to the tune of P100 million inside Thebephatshwa Air Base could in future become a doorway for America’s Africa Command (Africom).

Responding to Sunday Standard queries, US embassy spokesperson Ephraim Keoreng said,

“Any construction will depend upon the future availability of funding. These projects may focus on either airfield or support infrastructure necessary to move, train, lodge, and feed soldiers.”

The latest American military project has reignited speculation that Botswana is now a step closer to hosting Africom. There are even claims that the anticipated mini-base is expected to be under the leadership of Africom.

The outgoing commander of US. Army Africa Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams told the United States based military publication, that the American army will soon be responsible for a fifth security location site (military airfield), “slated to be stood up soon in Botswana.”

“We have very austere, lean, lily pads, if you will, all over Africa now,” Williams said.

Keoreng added that “based on the excellent cooperation in 2012 and our strong bilateral partnership, the United States would like Botswana to host Exercise SOUTHERN ACCORD again.”

“If Botswana does host another exercise, the United States will examine additional construction projects to support participants,” said Keoreng.

Reports indicate that Africa is the only continent in the world that remains without permanent US military presence, though several bases with American troops are dotted across various regions.

Botswana will join other four African countries that are currently hosting American military airfield and the American army will be in charge of the mini-airbase.

William is quoted as saying that of those four security locations in Africa, the American army is the caretaker for four — in Senegal, Ghana, Gabon and Uganda.

Despite both Botswana and the US denying an agreement on hosting AFRICOM is nigh, analysts say Botswana has not done enough to dispel these fears.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) have since made it clear that they do not want a permanent US military base on the continent.

But reports indicate that there have long been suspicions that Botswana and Liberia are amenable to hosting the unit. Reports indicate that Africom is presently domiciled in Stuttgart, Germany, but is actively seeking a base in Africa. A military advisor told the US Congress last year that Africom would get its African home.

William said the planned military airfield and others in Senegal, Ghana, Gabon and Uganda are part of Africom’s response to increasing the American army posture and the “responsiveness of the US. military on the continent of Africa.”

He explained that these sites typically don’t hold US. troops and are sometimes used during training exercises. “But if needed or if there’s a likelihood of a potential challenge, the sites allow the US. military to stage up to 300 soldiers or Marines for a short-period of time,” he said.

“We can stage (them) so they can surge to an event,” he said. “They enable readiness on the continent, they’re in a position where we can respond better on the continent are able to react quicker.” The cooperative security locations are part of “increasing our presence in Africa,” Williams said.

“We’ll go in an exercise there, use the facilities, make sure they’re up to speed in case we need them,” he said.

Under the leadership of Africom, the military now has cooperative security locations so it can more quickly respond to contingencies on the continent, Williams said.

According to Williams, these locations, which are austere, low-maintenance sites, sometimes just an open but secured field, were set up after the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

Asked if the planed military airfield will be a separate project from the ones that were reported to have been built at Thebephatswa air base in 2013, Keoreng said “Facilities were constructed at Thebephatswa Air Base as a result of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) hosting Exercise SOUTHERN ACCORD in 2012.” He added that “These facilities included administration, instructional, and latrine facilities to be used jointly by participating soldiers during future exercises.”

BDF is yet to respond to the questionnaire from the Sunday Standard.

In 2007, Botswana’s then President, Festus Mogae, said it had not taken a final position on the matter “because we don’t know what the animal (AFRICOM) will look like”.

Prior to that, according to leaked diplomatic cables from the US Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana gave Washington the green light to explore the possibility of establishing an AFRICOM base on its territory.

A cable sent by America’s Ambassador in Botswana, Katherine Canavan, to the US Secretary of State in Washington in October 2007, shows senior embassy officials met then Vice President Mompati Merafhe to discuss the matter. Canavan said Botswana and other unidentified African countries were being considered for hosting elements of AFRICOM.

“Recalling the earlier receptivity towards the AFRICOM concept, the ambassador sought to confirm Botswana’s current sentiments and whether the country would be willing to receive a technical assessment team in the near future,” the cable said. It said Merafhe “appeared genuinely interested” and wanted to know how many American troops would be based in Botswana. Five days later, according to the cables, Merafhe said Botswana was not averse to the idea of hosting AFRICOM and that Mogae was “favourably disposed”. — Sunday Standard (Botswana)/HR.

UK Astranaught Major Tim Peake’s Precisely Managed Return To Earth After Six Months In Space

At 3.34am, today, the hatch between the International Space station (ISS) was closed, 250 miles above earth.Undocking
After 186 days on ISS, today at 652 the Soyuz capsule undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) and separated from International Space Station. The capsule fired off several engine thrusters to push itself clear of the International space station (ISS) and, drifted off to a distance of approximately 12km from the orbiting International Space Station .
At this point, the engines the fired off again, this time sending the three astronaughts capsule into a hot external descent back to earth with temperatures reaching up to 2,000 degrees celsius.
At precisely 9.20am, the capsule’s rocket motor will fire for a total of four minutes and 45 seconds, placing the Soyuz capsule on a trajectory that will effectively take it out of orbit.
The capsule is currently orbiting earth at 17,000 miles an hour and will shortly slow down, alter orbit and head for earth.
Reverse thrust will be fired just one second before the capsule lands, slowing the capsule down to five miles an hour in what can only be defined as the equivalent of a carefully managed accident
For the trio on board the Soyuz capsule, the sensation as reported on BBC will be like going over the Niagra falls in a flaming barrel.
The Soyuz space capsule will touchdown at 1014 am.
However, the astronaughts bone and muscle density will be quite low and they will not be able to open the hatch themselves as they will be too weak and disoriented from the return journey.
The place the capsule will land in Khazakstan, a remote isolated area, traditionally used by Russia for such missions primarily because of this.

Rising from the entropy and suffering in their motherland, a visionary trio, of Zimbabwean USAP students,  comprising  Dr. Portia Chipendo,  Dr. Emmanuel Magara and Dr. Fallon Chipidza have sucessfully  graduated from Harvard Medical School as Zimbabwean USAP students .

The three did not let their economic background or standard educational facility backgrounds, hamper their development. Instead they used that as a step to unimaginable heights of achievement including their graduation from  Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Fallon Chipidza went to Harare’s Vainona High school, where she received  a scholarship that enabled her  to complete her A level  studies at the Catholic Regina Mundi school in Gweru, Midlands.

At Regina Mundi, Dr. Fallon Chipidza rose to being the school Headgirl , while  Dr. Portia Chipendo went to Seke 1 High school in Chitungwiza town.

‘Dark Irony As An Outspoken Firearms Advocate Jamie Gilt Is Shot By Her Four Year Old Son’.

article3gun (3)
Just hours after an outspoken United States, gun rights activist had boasted online on facebook about how ‘jacked’ up her son was, to shoot a weapon, she was, shot and wounded by her 4 year old son.
The 4 year old who was sitting in the back, managed to reach out and pick up the 45 calibre handgun, fire and injure his mum, Jamie Gilt, the Florida woman, a prominent firearms advocate in the United States, after the bullet travelled through the back seat and his mum’s body and wounding her in the abdomen.
The outspoken gun rights activist was spotted driving erratically by a police officer who came to her aid and she is now in a stable condition in hospital.
To some, such an  unfortunate incident is certainly, ‘Dark irony’, considering how prominent she is on social media with her pro gun views.
The police have said this was not a criminal act but rather an accidental shooting. There are public concerns about, whether or not the mother had safely secured and stored the gun in the back. By Sibusiso Ngwenya

Longest-Serving US Prisoner Held In Solitary Confinement ‘Albert Woodfox’ Freed After 43 Years

This undated photo provided by the International Coalition to Free the Angola 3 shows Albert Woodfox. Prosecutors sought to keep Woodfox, the last of the "Angola Three," behind bars Tuesday, June 9, 2015, despite a federal judge's order to immediately release him after 43 years in isolation, a longer period in lockdown than any other living U.S. prisoner. Woodfox was one of several prisoners accused of killing Brent Miller, a 23-year-old guard at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, in Angola, La., in 1972. (Courtesy of International Coalition to Free the Angola 3 via AP)

The longest-serving prisoner to be held in solitary confinement in US history, Albert Woodfox, has walked free in Louisiana after 43 years.

Woodfox was part of the group known as the “Angola Three”, after the prison where they spent years in confinement.

He had been there since April 1972 for the murder of a prison guard.

Maintaining his innocence in the death of Brent Miller, Woodfox, 69, was finally freed after accepting the lesser charge of manslaughter.

The plea bargain was negotiated with state prosecutors.

Twice in decades of legal battles, his murder conviction was thrown out of court, yet Louisiana state prosecutors were preparing to try him a third time.

He finally agreed to plead no contest to lesser charges in exchange for freedom but insisted this was not an admission of guilt.

“Although I was looking forward to proving my innocence at a new trial, concerns about my health and my age have caused me to resolve this case now and obtain my release with this no contest plea to lesser charges,” he said in a statement on Friday.

“I hope the events of today will bring closure to many.”

Before driving off from Feliciana Parish Detention Center, in St Francisville, with his brother, Woodfox told media he wanted to visit his mother’s gravesite.

She died while he was in prison and Woodfox said he had not been allowed to go to the funeral.

At the time of Mr Miller’s death, Woodfox was in Louisiana’s notorious Angola prison for armed robbery and assault.

He was accused of grabbing the guard from behind while others stabbed him with a lawnmower blade and a hand-sharpened prison knife.

Woodfox was placed in solitary and ordered to be kept on “extended lockdown” every 90 days for decades.

His lawyers say he was confined to his cell for 23 hours a day.

The other members of the “Angola Three”, Robert King and Herman Wallace, were released in 2001 and 2013 respectively.

Wallace, also convicted over Mr Miller’s murder, died soon after his release pending a new trial. King’s conviction was overturned.

Woodfox and Wallace were involved with the Black Panthers, a militant black rights movement formed in 1966 for self-defence against police brutality and racism. source-BBC
