This corona virus scare, has set the government in fear and panic for their lives after two aides of deputy cabinet secretary and presidential spokesman George Charamba – his driver and personal assistant – as well as the personal assistant of finance minister Mthuli Ncube have been placed on 21-day quarantine.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa Monday vacated his Munhumutapa government offices in central Harare following revelations that the late Zororo Makamba had visited the premise before his shock death from coronavirus.
Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba said Mnangagwa was from Monday this week, working from State House as a precautionary measure after Makamba’s visit last week to Munhumutapa Building.
Makamba was admitted at Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital last Friday. He later died on Monday, becoming the first confirmed death in Zimbabwe from the dreaded disease.
“I must confirm that the late Zororo Makamba paid a visit to both the Ministry of Finance and also the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC),” said Charamba.
He said at the OPC offices, Makamba met three staff members who have since been placed under the mandatory 21-day quarantine.
“In the course of his meeting, he came in contact with three staff members from our office. Those people have since been placed under 21-day quarantine apart from the measures that the medical team has recommended. On Sunday our offices were fumigated ensuring that there is decontamination,” said Charamba.
President Mnangagwa usually holds Cabinet meetings at the Munhumutapa building, but, as of this Tuesday after makamba’s Corona virus death, all the ministers were summoned to State House for the meeting under a tent as panic spreads across government ministers.
At least three civil servants have been tested for coronavirus after coming into contact with Zororo Makamba, who died from the disease on Monday.
Two aides of deputy cabinet secretary and presidential spokesman George Charamba – his driver and personal assistant – as well as the personal assistant of finance minister Mthuli Ncube have been placed on 21-day quarantine.
Makamba returned from New York on March 9, and tested positive for coronavirus on March 20 leading to his hospitalisation.
Before he was admitted to the Wilkins Hospital in Harare, Makamba met dozens of people, visited at least two bars, government offices and a gym.
The late 30-year-old broadcaster , Makamba, according to George Charamba ,had twice been to his office and was in contact with Charamba’s personal assistant and driver on both visits.
The two. have been tested for Corona and placed on a 21-day period from work.
The late Makamba interacted with Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s PA. Ncube had considered self-isolating himself because of this development , but he had been advised to attend Cabinet by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday, held in a tent at state house, Sibusiso Ngwenya zimlive
