Five Journalists, Reportedly Issued With, Contract Termination Letters By Daily News

FIVE reporters from a privately run media house, Daily News, have reportedly been fired today, Bulawayo24.com has learnt.

Media sources say the reporters were handed their contract termination letters today.

Speculation is rife that the sacking followed the Supreme Court controversial judgment.

Meanwhile, the Daily News sacking issues has sent shockwaves at Alpha Media Holdings as the Chairman Trevor Ncube is due to address workers on Friday.

Insiders say the Friday address is the second in within a week.

“Please be advised that there is going to be a staff address in the Newsroom at 0930am tomorrow. The Chairman and all HODs will be addressing staff. You are all requested to attend the meeting” reads part of an email sent to workers and leaked to Bulawayo24.com.

Last week, Publisher Rita  Chinyoka handed her resignation letter but sources says she was fired.

Chinyoka denied she was kicked out.

She wrote “Just to set the record straight, I was not fired, I freely tended my resignation see email below to the Chairman Trevor Ncube.

“I felt it was time to move on and thank you all for your support during my time at Alpha Media Holdings which I thoroughly enjoyed.

“I believe the article has tried to tarnish my image which is deplorable, but as usual I will not be responding”.

Below is her letter to  Ncube;

Dear Trevor

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation as Publisher of Alpha Media Holdings.

This has been a very difficult decision to make and one which I have contemplated over the last few months as the situation in the country continues to deteriorate.

After much thought and soul searching, I am convinced it is now time to move out of the corporate world and pursue personal interests without the pressure and stress I have been subjected too.

As detailed within my contract of employment, I hereby give the required notice period of 3 months, with the last day of employment being on Wednesday 14 October 2015.

As always I am dedicated to my role within AMH until I leave and will focus on any tasks that you specifically would like me undertake until then.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity and despite the challenges I can truly say I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the media industry.

I owe you a great deal and wish you all the very best for the future as you turnaround the business. by Thobekile Zhou. Source: Byo24News
