FORTY THOUSAND COUPLES from numerous countries will rededicate their marriages in Harare today led by Dr Hak Ja Han Moon the cult  Unification Movemement

Fear has gripped some sections of the Zimbabwean community after reports that Forty thousand couples from  numerous countries will rededicate their marriages in Harare on Wednesday in a huge ceremony that will be led by the leader of the Unification Movemement Dr Hak Ja Han Moon.

Dr Hak Ja Han is the widow of Sun Myung Moon, who founded the Unification Church.

Dubbed Peace starts with me, Peace starts with my family , the rededication ceremony is being organised by the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification and the Universal Peace Federation.

Organiser of the event, Archbishop Johannes Ndanga said couples will also be blessed at the fete.

“We were expecting to bless 40 000 couples but it has been surpassed overwhelmingly. We need enough security to ensure people can move to their sitting places with ease. We need to have screens outside the stadium to cater for those who fail to fit in the stadium. But it will be a big day,” he said.

African Traditional Religion fundi Tichaona Masaire said they have been getting calls from concerned Zimbabwe who fear that engaging in a marriage rite during this sacred month of November will bring bad luck to Zimbabwe.

Rituals are banned in November to allow people to concentrate on making preparations for the coming farming season without disturbance, hence the need to suspend all rituals and that interfering with this belief may result in continued droughts.

“We have been having many phone calls from Zimbabweans asking what is the implication of having this rite in the month of November.” Masaire said.

“The month of Mbudzi (November or goat) is so sacrosanct that all things rites and on the socio-cultural front comes to a halt, due to the belief that everyone s existence is linked to the spirit world.

An unwritten belief that no one seems to fight is that a November wedding brings bad luck. Few are willing to risk engaging in this forbidden act in a month when the spirit world, which supposedly should be present to bless peoples rituals, is taking a hol(y)day.”
