Increase Tollgates, Change Duty Free Service,..Milk Destitute Zimbabweans-by Sibusiso Ngwenya
There can be no clearer evidence of how broke Mugabe’s Zanu PF regime has become and how desperate they are to milk every last cent from the destitute Zimbabweans, in order to prop up an oppressive despot led regime than the Zimbabwe Commissioner General Of Taxes public notice to the effect that the duty free allowance of US$300 per person granted on goods imported by travellers for their personal use no longer includes cooking oil, laundry bar soap, beds and mattresses, flour, maize meal, sugar, meat, fish, powdered milk, yoghurts, cheese, eggs, corn puffs, jam and honey.
Included, are goods which are incorrectly declared, imported for resale or commercial purposes’alcoholic beverages in excess of five litres per traveller of which two litres may be spirits, imported by any member of the crew of an aircraft, ship or vehicle arriving from outside Zimbabwe,stoves, refrigerators, and blankets, meaning that duty will be charged on all these goods even if their value adds up to less than the duty free allowance of US$300 per person. Is life improving or worsening and is there any hope of recovering either or both the nation and our dignity from Mugabe and his caucus of corrupt, wealth and power monopolisers, made up of hismultimillionaire Zim1 family, Zanu PF stalwarts, and securocrats?
What realistic chances do Zimbabweans stand of unseating Mugabe’s ruthless, undemocratic, Zanu PF regime in 2018. Are we going to foolishly accompany them to the ballot, to again, legitimise yet another stolen election victory from us in 2018 or are we prepared to rise up in absolute defiance against the ‘Black oppressors of Blacks’ ,…you do the maths!
