It has come to the attention of government authorities that private schools are generally violating the HIV and Aids policy by giving pupils forms to complete, stating their HIV status or to take for tests to determine their HIV status.

This is blatant disregard for the law which states that people should not be discriminated against because of differences including, race, disability, health status and numerous other issues.

The discerning eye, says even in the first world, a child’s HIV status is not demanded, This behaviour is discriminatory and should be criminalised because schools do not treat people but hospitals, where the child’s HIV status is on record with authorities.

Nurses are trained to handle blood issues or injuries in sick bays and pupils or teachers have no place in handling blood unless trained and with adequate safety like gloves. HIV is areality and there are countless children who were born HIV positive due to their parents HIV status who need the support, care and welcoming attitude from the community and public at large as they are innocent victims with aright to life and the same rights like any other human being.

Those who fear their children will be exposed to aids by sharing sports and education with HIV positive education should feel free to identify schools that discriminate against HIV positive children or educate their children at home.
Applying such a discriminatory approach simply means today its the HIV positive child in school, then tomorrow its discriminating against HIV positive adults in employment, mental health patients at work, cancer patients at work, ageism, racism, tribalism and all other isms. This is absolutely wrong because it means there is a clandestine plan by private schools to deny HIV positive children the right to education..
