Last Surviving Actor Of: Are You Being Served?..Nicholas Smith a.k.a ‘Mr. Rumbold’ Dies Aged 81

It has been announced that Nicholas Smith, the actor who played Mr. Rumbold in Are You Being Served?, has passed away at the age of 81.The BBC star’s agents, Michelle Braidman Associates, confirmed the news in a statement, reading: “It is with great sadness we can confirm that our client, the actor Nicholas Smith, passed away yesterday.“He was a lovely man and a terrific actor.
 
He will be much missed by all who knew him.“Our thoughts are with his family.”Smith was the last surviving member of the original cast for the sitcom and had been in hospital for seven weeks after he suffered a fall at his home.He died in hospital on Sunday.
 
The actor’s other TV roles included Doctor Who, The Frost Report and the voice of Reverand Clement Hedges in 2005 Wallace & Gromit film The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit”.Hugely popular sitcom Are You Being Served? ran from 1972 to 1985, also starring John Inman, Molly Sugden, Frank Thornton and Wendy Richard. source-yahoo
