The water system, which will mostly benefit prison farm projects, was handed over to Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services (ZPCS) officials on Wednesday by Pastor Rufaro Nyadembera of Agape Family Care, the church’s charity arm.

“Do not lose hope, or be discouraged, take this time as an opportunity to develop your relationship with your Creator and to develop yourself. Look at President Robert Mugabe, he was once in prison, but came out to be a great leader. Look at Nelson Mandela, who was in prison for 27 years and came out to be a great statesman,” Makandiwa’s wife said in a message read for her by Pastor Nyadembera.

“From the Bible we have Joseph as an example and Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament while in prison. So do not lose hope, but use your time here wisely.”

ZPCS deputy commissioner-general (audit and inspectorate) Agrey Huggins Machingauta commended UFIC for the donation.

“As ZPCS, we appreciate and honour the role being played by the Christian community in assisting the organisation in the inmates’ welfare. It is our wish as an organisation to have members of the community come and assist us in taking care of their incarcerated relatives,” he said

Agape Family Care is a brainchild of Ruth, aimed at transforming and restoring hope in various families.

The organisation has donated blankets, linen, bed sheets and hospital equipment to Chitungwiza Central Hospital, classrooms and textbooks to Muringazuva Primary School in Muzarabani worth over $200 000.
