Massive looting at  Huruyadzo and Chigovanyika Shopping centres has been reported in Chitungwiza, Bulawayo24.com heard.

It was not immediately clear what triggered the looting.

Sources said the looting is similar to 1998 food riots that rocked  Chitungwiza leaving seven people dead.

President Robert  Mugabe had to deploy armoured troops in what many saw then as the biggest challenge to his rule.

Bread and sugar prices rose by an average of 30 per cent last week in Zimbabwe, which is already facing economic crisis and political tension.
