‘Mnangagwa former Secretary for Zambia United National Independence Party (UNIP) Youth League, who did military training in China and Egypt travels to ‘his home’ Zambia

Mnangagwa’s political journey began in Zambia when his family fled to Zambia in 1955 and President Mnangagwa became a member of Zambia’s United National Independence Party (UNIP) organising (UNIP) party which he joined as a student movement at college.
 
Emmerson Mnangagwa was elected into the party executive and was with the movement at Chililabombwe until the end of 1961.
 
Mnangagwa returned to Lusaka, and then became Secretary for the UNIP Youth League as an employee at a private company.
Mnangagwa did his military training in China and Egypt before leading a guerrilla group of freedom fighters called the Crocodile Gang, focused on sabotage and attacks on isolated farms in Zimbabwe.
 
President Mnangagwa was captured by the Rhodesian forces and imprisoned for seven years in Zimbabwe before he was deported by the Ian Smith Regime back to his ‘homeland’ Zambia in 1972 after serving his sentence.
 
While in prison mnangagwa spent his idle time studying, and completed his Law Degree after release having enrolled at the University of Zambia from 1973 to 1974 then in 1975, he studied for his post-graduate LLB degree and another post programme in Advocacy before he was admitted to the Bar of the High Court of Zambia in 1976.
