More than 300 National Youth Service (NYS) students graduated at Dadaya Training Centre after completing their two months long training.

Officiating at the graduation ceremony of intake 1 of 2018, Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde Owen Ncube said the NYS programme is not only unique to Zimbabwe but is in line with international, continental, regional and domestic policies of the African Youth Charter and the Southern African Development Community framework as well as vision 2030.

“Instilling discipline and a sense of patriotism in our youth has been one of the milestones of the new dispensation,” he said.

During their training programme, the youths from the NYS were involved in community work including the construction of an early childhood development centre at Oreti saving the school about $1 150 in labour costs.

Ndinaneni Primary School and Mpumelelo Secondary School also benefited from the two weeks NYS attachment programme.

A traditional chief’s court at Chief Mafala was also completed under the programme.
