Music Legend Jennifer Rush Cancels Zim Concert Due To Father’s Illness In US

American music legend Jennifer Rush’s maiden performance in Zimbabwe at the Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare on October 23 has been cancelled.

Minky Walters, the representative of the show organisers – Sound Event Management – said the music star had been forced to cancel the concert to enable her to fly back to the United States of America to attend to her ill father.

“The Jennifer Rush concert planned for Borrowdale Race Course in Harare on Friday October 23 has been cancelled, because the star has had to make an emergency trip back to the United States following a serious illness striking her father.

“Her concerts in Zimbabwe and Namibia, as well as remaining ones in South Africa, have been cancelled,” read part of the statement released by Sound Event Management yesterday.

Walters added that those who bought tickets for the gig that was meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her biggest hit, The Power Of Love, will be given refunds.

“We will be providing refunds to all those people who purchased tickets and they are being contacted to make arrangements accordingly. Anyone who wishes to make further enquiries can do so by calling 0712 601107.

“We are extremely disappointed with this development, but it is entirely understandable, given the situation that has arisen for her.

“We shall advise in due course as to the possibility of a return concert tour being staged.

“We apologise to music fans in Harare and hope that they will understand the situation,” said Walters.

In addition to Harare, The 1980s pop star’s Southern African tour also included Pretoria, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London, Durban, Bloemfontein and Windhoek

Rush, who has sold over 50 million albums, has collaborated with other international stars, including Elton John, Michael Bolton, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo.Source: dailynews
