National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) Urges Action Against Mugabe’s Anti-People Policies

THE National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) says Zimbabweans should unite and protest against “anti-people” policies enacted by the President Robert administration.

In a Heroes Day message Monday, the Professor Lovemore Madhuku-led political party cited the July 17 Supreme Court landmark judgment which gives the employers the right to terminate workers’ contracts on three months’ notice as one of the developments worth marching against.

NCA also named the installation of pre-paid water meters in residents’ homes, which government is insisting on, as one of the anti-people policies.

Government has also said it will soon be erecting urban toll gates as a way of raising revenue. Transport operators have said such a move by government was sure to see travel fares going up.

All these policies, the NCA said, are against the spirit of the gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe who died during the liberation struggle.

“Zimbabweans must always remember that workers’ plight was the major factor to unite our heroes to fight against the repressive colonial rule,” Madock Chivasa, the party’s national spokesperson, said.

“It is sad that as we celebrate Heroes Day, the corrupt Zanu PF government is selling water and is now contemplating installing pre-paid water meters to ensure that poor people continue to suffer.

He added: “We are also worried that the majority of Zimbabweans are landless yet a few corrupt Zanu PF officials own multiple farms where workers are subjected to worse inhumane treatment as compared to the era of colonialism.

“It is our appeal to all patriotic Zimbabweans to continue fighting for the attainment of the liberation struggle ideals.” source-newzimbabwe
