Philippines Catholic Diocese Suspends Priest For Hoverboard ‘Stunt’

A Catholic diocese in Philippines, the nation which has the largest catholic following on the globe, has suspended a priest from its  its clergy after he  welcomed parishioners to the final blessing of the Christmas Eve mass on while on  a  hoverboard just before the final blessing in the Mass at the church in

The priest, at the diocese of San Pablo in Laguna, is seen on a video that was swiftly uploaded and shared widely on Youtube, showing him singing  riding around the church, pivoting, as he  moved  back and forth,  up and down the church  aisles, to great  applause from the congregation, whilst on the self-balancing scooter more commonly referred to as a hoverboard.

The Catholic diocese strongly  condemned arguing that the priest sang a Christmas song, while going around the nave standing on a hoverboard.

The Diocese is of the view that the gathering is the Church’s highest form of worship, therefore in their book, it is absolutely wrong to try to gain people’s attention by capriciously introducing something . The church is of the opinion that, this was supposed to be  the Church’s highest form of worship, not a personal celebration as conducted by him.

The Catholic Diocese , strongly reprimanded the  priest for his stunt during Christmas Eve Mass, adding that they hope the suspended priest will use the opportunity to reflect on this unfortunate incident. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
