Police Appeal For Information As Sixth Pupil Dissappears From Bulawayo Surburbs In just One year

A pupil went missing in Bulawayo’s Mbundane suburb bringing to six the number of pupils that have disappeared this year in the three neighbouring suburbs of Mbundane, Emganwini and Nkulumane.

Albright Munkuli, 17, a Form Five pupil at Hamilton High School has been missing from home since July 26. His mother Baraidzo Munkuli said yesterday that her son left home on a Sunday morning on July 16 and since then he has not been seen.

“My son left home on a Sunday morning saying he was going for sports practice but never returned. I’ve been searching for him from friends and relatives to no avail,” said Munkuli. She said since his disappearance, she is having sleepless nights.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango said: “Albright is medium built, 1,7 metres tall and light in complexion. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light green jacket and a blue pair of shoes.” Police said efforts to locate the teen have been fruitless.

Eighteen-year-old Thabo Ncube, a former Founders High School pupil from Emganwini disappeared without trace on February 12. Thabo disappeared after telling his family members that he was going to collect O-Level results. That was the last time they saw him.
Winnie Museredzo, 14, a Form One pupil at Ncumbatha Secondary School, from Nkulumane 12 suburb, went missing on June 9. Winnie disappeared after telling her mother that she was going to collect textbooks from a friend’s place.

She never returned.

She was last seen wearing a blue and brown jersey, long chequered skirt and brown sandals. Another teen, Cyril Ndlovu, 15, a pupil at Hamilton High School, went missing on March 1. He was last seen at around 8:30AM. He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, a black track bottom and Adidas tackies.

Alighton Sheren, 15, a Form Two pupil at a college in the city went missing on April 30. He was last seen at around 8AM after he was sent to buy bread from a local grocery shop. He was last seen wearing a white vest, brown bottoms and blue shoes.

Nontobeko Nkomo, 10, a Grade Six pupil at Mgoqo Primary School in Nkulumane suburb went missing on May 26. Her parents last saw her when she left home for school. She was last seen wearing a bottle green school uniform.

It could not be established yesterday if any of the pupils have since been located.
