Power Providers Seek Permission To Raise Electricity Tarrifs For 2016
With many areas in Zimbabwe subjected to a total of 18 hours at a time without electricity due to ongoing power cuts, it certainly never rains but it pours for the suffering Zimbabweans who live destitute lives with 90% unemployment, Poor Service delivery in Health care, Housing, Roads, Education and unsurprisingly so, Electricity.
The powerhouse of Zimbabwe’ electricity supply, the Kariba Dam almost running dry and e after ectricity generation at its lowest because of low water levels which are not adequate to run electricity generating turbines.
Now after a stone broke Mugabe’s Zanu PF has failed to pay civil servants bonuses for Christmas and pushed the December pay date to the first week of January 2016, the and Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), with claims of improving services if tarrifs are raised, have both chosen to seek authority from Zimbabwe Electricity Regulation Authority (ZERA) to raise electricity tarrifs for the year 2016.
