Private Media Leading Dissent Unsettling Zanu PF More Than The Weak, Fragmented Opposition

Political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya has said the private media in Zimbabwe has taken a leading role in opposing the Zanu PF government which unsettles the government more than the currently fractured opposition.

In his Facebook post Ruhanya said the private media in Zimbabwe is under threat from the authorities for the simple reason that they are organizing and leading dissent against State excess as administered under Zanu PF.

“They have taken the role of opposition in an environment where the political opposition is weak, fractured, fragmented and in some instances mimics Zanu PF,” he said.

“The State is now more comfortable with this vacuous opposition than it is with the media that is ever searching for accountable governance.”by Stephen Jakes
