Sex Worker (58) Slapped With 20 Year Jail Term For Raping And Infecting Boy (6)

Masvingo. A 58 year old commercial sex worker has been slapped with a 20 year jail term after being convicted of raping and infecting a 6 year old boy with STI.

Mercy Muchemwa was convicted after a full trial by Magistrate Judith Zuyu.

Five years of her sentence was conditionally suspended and will effectively serve 15 years for the offence.

The Magistrate described Muchemwa as a cruel woman who should have looked for adults to satisfy her sexual appetite instead of abusing the boy and exposing him to the risk of contracting HIV/AIDs.

Prosecutor Moreblessing Rusere told the court that some time last year Muchemwa would take advantage of sharing the same house with the boy’s parents to abuse the minor on several occasions.

The court heard that Muchemwa would sexually abuse the minor in her bedroom after making the boy leak her private parts and doing the same to the boy.

Rusere said after every abuse the woman would give the boy cash ranging from $0.50 to $2 to buy the lad’s silence.

Several witnesses, including Muchemwa’s friends, testified in court nailing her saying Muchemwa at times told her friends that she liked the boy because of his virility.

The minor also gave evidence, demonstrating how he had sex with the 58 year old granny.

The matter came to light in June this year after the boy fell sick while at his rural home in Chirumanzu and was taken to a local clinic where he was diagnosed with STI and a police report was made leading to the arrest of Muchemwa.
