Speaker Mudenda says out of 129 applications submitted for US$50 000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations by MPs, only two met the requirements.

Zimbabwe has a total of 210 constituencies eligible for CDF allotments. A total of 74 MPs failed to submit their Constituency Development Fund (CDF) applications for the money.

The CDF, funding requires that committees should be set up, while projects for development should be identified including stakeholder consultations, and a total of three quotations must be submitted for each project.

Parliament will in order to stop abuse of CDF allocations assess the proposal before approval of the project and the US$50 000 will be released.
 

This revelation by the speaker of parliament over MP failures comes at a time when there is also massive public outcry over the poor state of roads as shown in the herald photos below of some of Zimbabwe’s roads in Harare.
