ZESA needs about 3 000 transformers to provide power to thousands of homes throughout the country, parliamentarians heard last week. Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company managing director Engineer Julian Chinembiri told the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy that the power utility was also constrained by lack of resources to purchase them. Zesa Holdings To Dismiss 700 Contract Workers & 300 Permanent Staff.

  Zesa Holdings is set to fire close to 1000 workers as it has resolved not to renew their contracts in a bid to cut expenditure. Of the 1000, 300 are permanent employees “deemed redundant”.
