The Zimbabwe Power Company board has launched investigations into how management unprocedurally made a down payment of $5 million to Wicknell Chivayo for pre-commencement works on the 100 megawatt Gwanda solar power project.  Chivayo’s IntratekZimbabwe  won the $200 million contract  but the money was paid without IntratekZimbabwe submitting a performance guarantee to give ZPC security to recover its money in the event the firm failed to perform on the contract.
