The new Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa today took time, along with his Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga to visit the sick MDC T leader, former prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai at his Highlands home in Harare.

President Mnangagwa was in the company of Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga and welcomed at Tsvangirai’s home by MDC-T vice president Mr Nelson Chamisa, MDC T director of elections, Murisi Zvizvayi and Mrs Elizabeth Tsvangirai’s wife.

We are not here to judge anyones health but after 17 years at the helm of MDC and failing to remove Mugabe, having lost his wife and been seriously injured in a failed attempt by Mugabe to eliminate him by road accident, and continuosly suffering torture, abuse and arrests including treason charges, maybe its time this MDC T leader bows down and allows fresh blood to be injected in to MDC T leadership.

At present we all know that MDC T is said to be more of a personal asset to Tsvangirai just like what Zanu pf was to Mugabe who wouldnt let go, old age, poor health or power hungry wife young enough to be his grand daughter. We want to avoid walking into asimilar struggle with Tsvangirai and maybe it makes sense for the whole nation to afford him respect by giving him some honourary post in Zimbabwe to guide the nation forward, not MDC T but Zimbabwe, such as advisor to the cabinet.

He fought his part now let him rest and enjoy whats left of his health and life. if he frecovers, well then let him re enter poliyics but for now, the nation must move forward progressively with a powerful credible leader in opposition for people and the global village to hold confidence in investing in rebuilding Zimbabwe however its up to MDC T to demonstrate to their supporters that they are open to ideas and work out how to rest the already aging and sick leader.

While this is a noble action by Mnangagwa, lets remeber that Mnangagwa has not militarised the cabinet, ruthlessly destroyed G40 and protected real criminals while rewarding Mugabe with ahefty US$1o million package so that he can hand over power to the people in the 2018 ballot. I will always state that no sane person can expect mnangagwa to Reform Zanu pf out of power,..they are not going anywhere!

Maybe Mnangagwa should come up with good retirement package for the former prime minister like he did for Mugabe and allow him to go. This is no longer about MDC T or Zanu pf and moving a nation forward. If Mnangagwa could retire Mugabe, what stops him from resting Tsvangirai? That way MDC T can reinvigorate itself by uniting the camps under one new MDC T loeader of the people’s choice and give us a chance at unseating Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats.

Tsvangirai remains a hero to most Zimbabweans as he was the first person to bravely stand against Mugabe when he led the MDC formed in 1999 against the ruthless Mugabe. Remeber Mugabe was always a feared ruthless Murderer, and Tsvangirai gave Zimbabwens hope.

Zimbabweans did not care whether it was a lamp post, tree, baboon or post box they needed to vote for to replace Mugabe, they only wanted change in the 2000 ballot and Tsvangirai gave them that hope and sacrificed himself. He nearly lost his life in the accident that killed his wife, lost the last 17 years of his life, leading opposition MDC T in a failed attempt to remove Mugabe, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats including Mnangagwa. Its time the MDC T leader gave way to fresh young blood, new ideas and we move forward as we still have a big fight ahead which may mean going back into the streets like we did to remove Mugabe,..Wake up Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats must all go,..we need to remove the military from cabinet and return to civil leadership in a democratic state.

We need credible Electoral Reforms in place before we can hold a free fair electoral exercise in 2018. Its unfortunate that SADC warned Tsvangirai not to go ahead with the infamous NIKUV 31/07/2013 elections without putting into place necessary electoral reforms.

Remeber the electoral reforms had already been agreed upon and signed up to by party principals such as Robert Mugabe, Morgan Tsvangirai, Welshman Ncube in negotiations overseen by the former South African President Thabo Mbeki but MDC T spent five years in the GNU in monday morning teas with Mugabe and not a single electoral reform was put in place by election time and we the people lost to Mugabe.

I always warn that be careful Zimbabwe, the republic is avery rich nation, minerals and resource wise and its not necessarily an issue if big opposition fail to remove Zanu pf as they still get the government political budget set aside for opposition, things like government houses as in Tsvangirai’s position and other benefits including state security, so what really was an incentive for removing Mugabe,…none!

The people of Zimbabwe this time must withdraw their votes and refuse to participate is elections designed only to legitimise fraudulent ballots as in the past. We need vibrant, credible leadership with the people’s interests at heart, ready to bring change for the people.

AIPPA, POSA and other draconian laws must be removed, UN, SADC and AU must be in place to monitor elections, Zec and other state institutions must be demilitarised, rural areas must be opened to voter education and activist campaigns. DISCUSS! More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
