Two people died in a road traffic accident, while three are admitted at Mvurwi hospital, after a Mazda 323 they were travelling in collided with a Mozambican Freightliner truck near the 40kilometer peg along Centenary-Mazowe highway Thursday afternoon.
 
The police allege the accident was due to negligence after the truck driver encroached into an oncoming lane.
 
“The truck driver encroached into the lane of 323, that is human error on part of the truck driver.
 
“Two passengers from the Mazda died upon admission at Mvurwi hospital around 14:00hours, they were five occupants, three of them are admitted at the same hospital,” said the police.An eye witness Bria Musendami blamed the Mozambican haulage driver saying he killed innocent souls from his gross negligence.
 
“I witnessed the whole episode since l was following a bus that was just before the 323.
 
“The truck driver took away unnecessary life due to his gross negligence after he encroached into another lane.
“Anenge anyutura haaa this guy is very wrong,” fumed Musendami.
 
However, National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said some motorist were failing to take heed of road traffic safety awareness campaigns held by the police and Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, hence the increase in accidents this festive season. Accident victims who perished are Otilia Bhasera Mundozi (34) and her brother Simon Samara (52) all from Collingwood farm in Concession. The haulage truck driver was identified as Arabade Eusebio Confiancia. It is reported that, three accident victims are at present, admitted at Mvurwi hospital.  Simbarashe Sithole. Byo24
