Zanu PF Charters Plane US$250, 000, Flies 300+ Members To Vic Falls

ZANU PF blew over US$250, 000 on chattered plane to fly over 300 plus Central Committee members to its 2015 annual conference in Victoria Falls where they are accommodated in various lodges.

President Robert Mugabe’s party chattered an Air Zimbabwe plane for its Central Committee members despite the fact that party workers have not been paid for months.

The costly gesture also comes at a time when government is struggling to pay civil servants and diplomats on time and when the national airline is in dire straits.

Delivering his welcoming remarks, Zanu PF Matabeleland North provincial chairperson Richard Moyo said Central Committee members were grateful to President Mugabe for the gesture.

“Your Excellency, when we were coming here Thursday aboard the Air Zimbabwe plane, Central Committee members said I should thank you for flying them to Victoria Falls.

“Some of us were flying for the first time and are very happy.”

Turning to other issues, Moyo warned the private media against attacking Zanu PF saying they should leave the ruling party alone.

“I appeal to the independent media to leave us alone, if they have nothing to write about.”

Moyo also bemoaned the lack of television and radio signal in the area, 35 years after independence.

“On communication, although we enjoy the occurrence of cell phone networks coverage here we remain underprivileged as there are no television and radio signals in most parts of the province.

“And I appeal to you to consider our helpless situation through the responsible ministry,” he said.

People from the province enjoy South African programmes and news coverage via pay to per view television and free to air channels. source-newzimbabwe
