‘ Zanu-PF Is United With Democratic Processes, & Easily Corrects Wayward Behaviour,,..No Factions!’-Mugabe

THERE are no factions in Zanu-PF but one united group that has vibrant internal democratic processes and the ability to correct wayward behaviour, President Robert Mugabe has said.

Addressing Zanu-PF supporters at Chamisa Primary School in Gutu yesterday, President Mugabe said Zanu-PF is a united party that has a strong support base with strong values steeped in the liberation struggle.

The President spoke after paying his condolences to the family of the late Chief Gutu following his death in 2014.
Chief Gutu, the President’s uncle, died aged 87.

“There are no groups in Zanu-PF. Zanu-PF is one group and there are no factions that people talk about. Yes there were some issues but we’re a united party and we’ve people behind us,” Cde Mugabe said to rousing applause.

He praised the people of Masvingo for being united and urged them not to change their nature.

“It’s this unity that led the province to sweep all the 26 parliamentary seats in the 2013 general elections,” said President Mugabe.

He described the opposition as being lost and having nothing to offer to the people.

Cde Mugabe said even the machinations of former Vice President Joice Mujuru and her cabal failed to sway the people of Masvingo from supporting Zanu-PF.

“Masvingo you’re our pride, you lost some seats in 2008 after the expelled Joice Mujuru had told you not to vote but in 2013 you got united and voted resoundingly achieving 100 percent,” the President said.

“The likes of the expelled Dzikamai Mavhaire and Kudakwashe Bhasikiti influenced some of you but you remained with your party. Our motto in the party is if someone goes astray, we tell them to go.”

Cde Mugabe said the ruling party was different from opposition parties which had fragmented into tiny little pieces such as MDC-T, M, N or Z.”

“Some are saying we’re People First and sunset,” he said to laughter from the crowd.

Cde Mugabe said the country needed resolute and morally upright leaders who do not get blown in different directions by the wind.

“Tsvangirai would change wives and we were watching. It’s his behaviour, we can’t stop him. What has Zanu-PF done you wrong? You want to bring back white people to be farmers in our country?” he said.

The President also took the opportunity to donate 90 tonnes of maize, 30 tonnes of nutritional food and 50 bales of clothes to the people of Gutu.

“I came to pay my respects to Chief Gutu, my uncle and his wife who is my aunt. I couldn’t attend his burial when he passed on in 2014.

“I went to see his grave and I was happy that it was built nicely,” he said.

Cde Mugabe listened to chiefs’ grievances on the need for road construction, rural electrification and food security.

He assured the traditional leaders that the government would continue supporting infrastructural development and would not let anyone starve.

Turning to school children, President Mugabe said no child should fail to attend school.

“No child should be seen not attending school. For those who are unable to pay fees due to their backgrounds, the government has a duty to make sure that they attend school. I’ve asked the responsible Ministry to compile names so that we can see how many need educational assistance,” he said.

President Mugabe took a swipe at some war veterans who are bent on causing chaos in the party and called on the freedom fighters to work with the party as they are part of Zanu PF.

“We praise the war veterans but they should be war veterans who strengthen the party not work outside the party. We want them to join others to strengthen the party. You can’t say we were outside the country alone. Where were you? I would love to know that because we were together,” he said.

“30 years ago we weren’t allowed to have political parties. We had to fight coming from other countries. How will your inheritance progress because there won’t be war veterans again as they become fewer each time? Inheritance will be taken by the youths who come through the party, of course”.

Cde Mugabe urged freedom fighters to exercise their rights to belong to Zanu PF saying they should not operate outside the party. Walter Mswazie . source-chronicle.
