ZCTU Accuse Mugabe’s Zanu PF Regime Of Sidelining Social Partners In Labour Act Amendment

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions Secretary general Japhet Moyo has accused the government for sidelining labour and Employers as social partners in the amendment of the labour act which it blames for causing the firing of over 20 000 workers in a space of one month.

The job loses came after the Supreme Court using the labour Act ruled that employers have a legal ri9ght to fire workers after giving them three months notice of pay.

Moyo said, “how the government could tore apart the rules of social dialogue…by calling parliament to debate a Bill whose contents have been only made available to the Newspapers instead of consulting social partners.”

He insinuated that by sidelining labour and employers the government undermined the social partners and decided to impose laws concerning the employers and the workers without their input.- Source-bulawayo24
