Zimbabwe Bus, ‘Intercape Bus’, Has Been Robbed By Gunmen In South Africa

Three days after an Eagle Liner bus service was robbed at gunpoint, in an incident in which 21 Zimbabweans were attacked and robbed  along the N1 near Polokwane, in South Africa,  an Intercape bus service enroute from Harare to Gauteng, was, on Thursday night attacked by three armed gunmen along the N1 highway around midnight.

The robbery occured after the coach driver pulled over to hand over the coach to his co driver, when suddenly three gun men appeared  from the undergrowth and threatened  passengers before robbing them of their  cash, mobile phones and valuables. So far no arrests have been made.

The N1 highway in South Africa is now a hotspot for such serious crime incidences involving coaches transporting Zimbabweans, with rich pickings for the criminals.

This is not the first incidence involving Intercape buses, after  48 Zimbabweans , were previously subjected to a torrid  four-hour bus hijack on an Intercape bus by gun men who stripped them of cash, mobile phones and valuables in a 3.30AM robbery

In  the same year, two Zimbabwean buses were  Eagle Liner and Citiliner, bound for Johannesburg, were also subjected to similar attacks enroute to Johannesburg.  By Sibusiso Ngwenya
