Zimbabwe Gvt To Erect 10 New ‘Tollgate Cash Cows’ Across Major Roads In Coming Weeks
Mugabe’s cash strapped Zanu PF regime will erect 10 new tollgates across the nations major highways in Zimbabwe in what is obviously a desperate attempt to raise funds from the public.
The ammendment and gazzeting of Statutory Instrument 39, Toll Roads (Road Network) Regulations (2009),this week will kickstart the construction of the much hated highway structures.
The tollgates will be erected on the Harare-Beitbridge, Harare-Chirundu (Karoi), Harare-Bindura-Mt Darwin, Chivhu–Nyazura (Magamba), Mutare–Masvingo (Dewure) and Masvingo-Beitbridge (Mwenezi Growth Point) roads.
The tollgate count on main highways is fast rising with Harare-Beitbridge road accruing six tollgates, Harare-Chirundu, Bulawayo-Beitbridge and Mutare-Masvingo roads totalling three each at the end of the exercise.
In theory the millions of income generated by the ‘tollgate cash cows’ , ideally should boost funds for road infrastructure maintenance. However, this fails to happen under Mugabe’s cash strapped Zanu PF regime, for obvious reasons. By Sibusiso Ngwenya. See more at www.newzimbabwevision.com
