Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO – Zorro) Petition to the UN UN, UK, US and EU etc

A PETITION TO THE UN, UK, US and EUROPEAN UNION etc.
Over 4million Zimbabweans, roughly a third of the population are living outside their home country. The exodus of millions was motivated by failing economic and political conditions. The diaspora sends millions of dollars in cash remittances to Zimbabwe. These remmitances have kept the country afloat, and the government has admitted that without this financial support, our country would be in a worse situation. The diaspora also provides support in skills and other non monetary investments.Image may contain: 1 person, standing and outdoor

The constitution: Section 67 (3) “Every Zimbabwean who is of or over the age of eighteen years of age has the right-(a)-to vote in all elections and referendums to which this constitution or any other law applies, and to do so in secret; and (b) to stand for public office, if elected to hold such office.Image may contain: 3 people, people standing and outdoor

As a result, we are asking that the government make provisions to allow external voting for the diaspora.
Voting is our right, enshrined and protected in the highest and most important law of our country.Image may contain: 4 people, people standing, crowd and outdoor

To that end, in a united voice of millions, we ask that the government legalise external voter registration and voting at our embassies around the world.Image may contain: 3 people, people standing and outdoor

The newzimbabwevision editor in chief Sibusiso Ngwenya, was present to witness the submission of this great petition with over 7,000 signatures by Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO – Zorro), to the British Prime Minister , Theresa May’s office at No 10 Downing Street, London, UK on Saturday 20/05/2017.Image may contain: 6 people, people sitting

Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO – Zorro) were formed out of a desperate need to aid Zimbabwe, but additionally to support those in the UK going through an Asylum Process.

Zimbabwe is a beautiful country that has been brought down from its once glorius status of ‘Jewel of Africa’ onto its knees through the corrupt and ruinous activity of the 93 year old despot Robert Gabriel Mugabe and his Zanu pf.

Zimbabwe is on the verge of the much acclaimed 2018 General election marking thirty years of chaos, currently standing at 37 years of corruption and destruction by a heartless leader , the oppressive Robert Mugabe , the Zim 1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats who monopolise wealth and power.

There is an overwhelming number of displaced Zimbabweans estimated at over 4million currently living in the diaspora. Some are in the diaspora by choice seeking a better life but many are in forced exile, while some seek temporary safety and respite from the brutal and murderous Mugabe and his Zanu pf regime.

It is fair to say that the diaspora is a treasure trove for Zimbabwe;s freedom if they are allowed to vote. This is so because if the diaspora voted, they are guaranteed to change the status quo because they are well informed and know and apprereciate the reason for their presence and struggles in the diaspora, emanating for Mugabe and his Zanu pf corruption coupled with the continued denial to a right to vote.

Mugabe is well aware that the diaspora is mainly made up of such people and therefore at least 4 million votes less or better yet, against Mugabe and his Zanu pf.

This is obviously an unwanted guranteed victory for the people in the fight for freedom, peace, justice, equality, accountability, democracy, good governance, constitutionalism, peace and prosperity for all as it literally spells the despot’s end.Image may contain: 1 person, standing and outdoor

I always remind people that voting is not about popularity but actually standing and being counted, so its imperative that the diaspora must vote if we need to establish a great future for our children and descendants, black, white, coloured, any race, any tribe, religion, race, sexual orientation and political support, including disillusioned Zanu pf.

It is known that Zanu pf are fighting hard to effect the next vote rig as hinted by the Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede who has suggested that the four year old New Constitution needs amendment to ban dual citizenship.

As soon as such a draconian act is passed it simply throws Zimbabweans into further turmoil as those born in the diaspora or those who now hold more than one national passport will not have the right to vote in the 2018 elections.

Out of this sad tale, developed a breath taking relief through the establishment of Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO – Zorro).
