‘ZIMBABWE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS’: MAHUHWE MAN jailed 5 years for stealing 15 kids

A Mahuhwe man was jailed for five years by Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe on Friday after he was found guilty of stock theft.
 
Benjamin Chingore (32) was found with 15 goat kids at his homestead in Mahuhwe after selling 13 of the stolen goats in Harare.
 
Public prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi told the court that between the period of 1 to 5 August Chingore and his accomplice who is still at large and was not mentioned in court drove 28 goats from their grazing pastures to Chingore’s homestead.
 
Thirteen of them were sent to Harare for resale, fifteen kids were being kept at Chingore’s homestead/
One of the owners tracked Chingore’s foot prints and found the fifteen kids at his house before filing a police report leading to his arrest.
 
The magistrate took into consideration the rise in stock theft cases and slapped him to an effective 5 years imprisonment. by Simbarashe Sithole
