Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) To Recruit More Police Officers

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is set to recruit more officers to enable it provide an effective service to the public.

Speaking at the launch of the Client Service Charter in Harare recently, Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri said the force was working to create a crime-free society.

“We wish to increase the number of police persons so that everyone in any corner of Zimbabwe will not spend two hours trying to find a policeman and fail to get one. This is how I think it should be,” he said.

The Client Service Charter sets a benchmark of the minimum level of service that the public can expect from the force.

“We are saying to our clients, we exist because of you, expect this from us, this is our standard and should we fail, take us to task. Zimbabweans are particularly known for finding excuses for failing to do things. We can’t do this because of that. We can’t do this because this is not there and I am saying whether we have or we don’t have, let’s try with what is available,” Comm-Gen Chihuri said.
