ZIMBABWE SYNDICATES EXPOSED,..AGAIN! Special Presidential Prosecution Unit (SPPU) has unearthed a cartel of Cottco senior executives and high profile politicians behind illegal cotton trading in Zimbabwe, prejudicing Treasury of millions of, over US$2.5 million in forex through diverting cotton meant for exports to illegal local buyers in the country.

Cottco head of corporate services Benedict Mugura is the complainant in the case against executives Pious Manamike (managing director), Brighton Chibhamu (Finance), Lameck Machumi (Sales) and Charles Masungure.

Another investigation by the same unit has also unearthed a cartel of high profile politicians behind the Plumtree busted syndicate of gold smuggling which amounted to about six tonnes over the past six years.

A multi-agency investigative taskforce recently busted a syndicate involving police officers, magistrates and border security officials who were involved in gold smuggling.

The syndicate allegedly includes Plumtree regional magistrate Timeon Tavengwa Makunde, prosecutor Stanley Chinyanganya. The arrested in the case also include the officer-in-charge of Plumtree Police Station, Inspector Ginger Vhiyano, and his subordinates Sidingimuzi Ncube, Jephta Chaganda and Ladislous Tinacho.
