Zimbabwe To Unveils Plans To Rolls Out Hi-tech Camera Equipped & Computerised Cars

Because of the ongoing economic crisis, Zimbabwe’s roads have been a haven for criminals which include, unlicenced drivers, uninsured drivers, stolen motor vehicles, criminals on the wanted and so forth.

Those days are now over as the Zanu PF regime is finally catching up with basic first world mordern policing standards

As part of Transport and Infrastructural Development , a cabinet Minister has announced that , this week, the Zanu PF regime will unveil ‘hi-tech computer and camera equipped’ vehicles which would easily identify unregistered vehicles and those without valid ZBC radio licences .

This will go along way towards taming the lawless traffic jungle which is constantly accident prone. The aim is to restore public confidence to the motoring public and to minimise the volume of accidents on our roads, while removing criminals from the road and placing them where they belong,…’behind bars’ to serve time for their crimes, thus bring back respect for road rules, traffic police and restore respect for life.

These vehicles will be active on our roads, nationwide within a few days, thus allowing vehicle operators to instantly link up with the national police data base as soon as your vehicle registration is identified by the on board camera’s and computer equipment.

“It will not matter whether you are in an urban centre or out in the middle of nowhere in the rural areas as everything about the vehicle, owner, registration, insurance, ZBC licence, certificate of fitness, will instantly pop up once your number plate and other details register.

This effectively means that stolen vehicles will be easily and instantly identified wherever they meet up with the hi-tech vehicles as its linked to the Central vehicle Registry (CVR) department.

We are aware that the CVR or central vehicle registry announced plans to de-register over 300,000 vehicles which unsurprisingly have been unlicensed over the last two years. The current estimate, is that Zimbabwe has close to 1, 2 million vehicles in the country.

This plan will create a safer road traffic environment and help reduce the volume of traffic on the roads as only, fully licenced, insured, registered and fit for road use vehicles will be able to operate once unrolled in full swing.

The effect is positive for both the public and government as we will have safer roads, and returns, in terms of confiscated vehicle fines or disposal sales and other cash cow income generated by the scheme can be channelled towards improvement of the road infrastructure.

The same will apply to public transport, who are the main causers of road accidents. This means unregistered and uninsured commuter taxis will soon be a thing of the past, bringing back sanity and public safety for all other road users, commuter passengers, pedestrians and animals.
To the discerning eye, this development by Zimbabwe is not something new or out of this world but rather catching up with the global village, albeit a decade or more later.
We all know that  a significant number of Zimbabwe’s traffic police and Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) are the most corrupt  individuals, who earn thousands of US dollars through receiving bribes to let criminal activity such as use of stolen, uninsured, unregistered  and non road worthy vehicles, and unlicenced drivers operate with impunity.
This will now become a thing of the past as accountability is unavoidable , once undeniable court evidence such as  camera footage and computer data base evidence  and links to Central Vehicle Registry-(CVR)  come into play.
Bribery will no longer be an easy game if at all still prevalent once the system is unrolled out within a week.
