Some families are still living in the open more than a week after their illegal structures near High Glen Shopping Centre were razed to the ground by council authorities.
Over the past few days, Harare has been experiencing rains.

While the rains have come as a blessing for many, they have come as a curse for some families whose houses were destroyed by authorities for flouting council procedures.

Hope to find shelter soon has gone as they say they do not have money to immediately pay for rentals.

“We have no money but when we get paid we will have to look for somewhere to stay with our families,” said one man.

It is worse for school children whose books have been destroyed.

They are not even aware which schools they will attend next year, if at all they go.

“Our books are being destroyed by rain, we are hoping our parents will find a solution,” said one pupil.

More than 100 families in Budiriro and Aspindale were left homeless after the Harare City Council destroyed their houses as the city authorities continue to stamp authority on illegal settlements.Source: zbc
