REASONS TO PRAY (1 THESSALONIANS 5:17-‘PRAY without ceasing’)-thanks giving to God.

Prayer is an important way of communicating with God, having intimacy with him, as we develop a relationship with God, who was there before, is there now in Heaven and will always be there for ever after. The prayer line is open 24/7 to everyone in any language, whether silent or loudly and in any place because God is always available to hear you, nothing too big or too small to bring before him.

God already knows our lives even before we are born from the beginning to the end and nothing can ever be a surprise to him because he knows what we will face, therefore he prepares a way out for us according to his will.

Prayer is an important part of showing our love to God , that we are dependant on him, seek to know him and be thankful for all that he has done for us in the past, is doing now and will do for us in the future throughout our life on earth.

The bible teaches us all that we should not worry about anything because God will provide for all our needs, bring everything to God through prayer Philippians 4:6 – ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God’.

A christian, righteous person is powerful, so lets not be selfish but we must also pray for others too. James 5:16 ‘Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective’

The fourth Thursday of November which in 2018 , will be 22 November, is an important date on the USA and Canada calender, a time dedicated to being thankful for all that God has done for us. An important chapter in the BIBLE that articulates issues on being thankful, is Colossians 3.

This Bible chapter teaches us all about the importance of being thankful to God, blessing his name in all you do and allowing God finish what he started in your life by doing greater wonders and miracles in your life. Always remember God’s promise to everyone, in Philippians 1:6 ‘ Being confident of the very fact that he who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ come’

Whatever you do, stay on the altar, through prayer, mould your thought process, morals, behaviour, utterances and the way you conduct yourself whether in private or public. This can be achieved by moving away from the devil’s temptations and coming back to the altar, throwing out any ill hearted feelings, evil thoughts, spirit of vengeance, knowing that whatever happened in your life, was God’s plan. You must always accept that, because you are a work in progress, the same God there before, now and ever after, will overcome any challenges thrown against you by the enemy, because he is powerful and will move mountains for you.

Know that the the devil is a lier John 8:44 ‘For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies’

Therefore, when do you really think, it is best that you bless his name and thank him? The answer everyone, is, everyday of your life, be thankful for everything in the past, now and more to come from him no matter how much losses and pain you may have endured in life, always be thankful.

You should daily speak to God through prayer, songs, hymns of praise, sharing what God has done for you in life , and give thanks for everything that God has done for you. Christians must always stay on the altar and fill themselves with the holy spirit of praise, worship and thankfulness because, the Bible tells us in Psalm 118:24 ‘The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad’ The answer everyone, on when is it best to be thankful, is, simply every day of your life, praise God in all you do , for what he has done in the past , is doing now and will do all your days on earth till we meet him in heaven. it is important to know that Phillipians 4:6 says ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God’..

You are where you are because God has removed stumbling blocks placed in your life and will move mountains for you, because you are favored and blessed in your life. Never forget God by moving away from the altar because God can just as easily strip you of everything he has bestowed upon your life if you forget him

FOR THANKS GIVING, here are powerful verses from Colossians for you all, have a great thanks giving.

Colossians 3: ‘1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’.
his verse clearly reminds us all that we are christians, and must stay rooted on the altar.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

This scripture reminds that we are christians and we must mould our thoughts, acts, morals and behaviour in a way that pleases God because our bodies are temples of the holy spirit, so we must not defile God’s image so we can remain blessed in all we do.

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

These verses, clearly tell us all about always being in the christian spirit of forgiveness, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and next to God.
Instructions for Christian Households
18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Its the teaching of the Bible, understandable although Im sure equal rights disputes that but most important to me is the following verse, which in my view settles the equality aspect
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
The bible is teaching us all, how to treat children not to anger them, clearly treat them as capable and independant thinking beings. The commandments here on wives, husbands and children are a strong teaching on amicable respectable , united family life in christian homes.
The most powerful warning over all teachings in Colossians chapter 3 in the bible is the message to all that : 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism. Have a great thanks giving and remember to thank God always for everything he has done in the past, is doing now and will bless you with in the future. God bless you all. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
