200 Driver’s licences cancelled and 32 Vehicle Inspectorate Departments officers from 13 (VID) fired for corruption.
Minister Gumbo was responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday on the measures his ministry had put in place to curb corruption at the VID.
VID Corruption was unearthed at 13 VID depots which are , Belvedere, Chitungwiza, Eastlea,Mutare, Chiredzi, Gweru, Victoria Falls, Bindura, Kadoma, Marondera, Zvishavane, Nyamapanda, Chinhoyi identified as having corruptly allocated a total of 199 drivers and provisional licences .
The government also believes that its policy of rotating or transferring VID officers evry three-years will curb corruption as it ensures that officers do not become complacent and over familiar with a location and locals. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
