50 Shot Dead In Florida Nightclub, After Shooter Reportedly Pledged ISIS Allegiance
Last year alone, the USA experienced a total of 372 mass shootings, but in the early hours of today, 50 people were massacred in a shooting in a gay bar in Orlando, , the worst in U.S. history at about 2 am USA time. Orlando city declared a state of emergency due to the attack.
The shooter, has been named by authorities, as a 29 year old man Omar Saddiqui Mateen, a trained security guard, from Fort Pierce.
Omar Saddiqui Mateen, who was heavily armed, opened fire in a packed night club, The Pulse, killing at least 50 people. This is obviously a dark day for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender community who would, now be in fear for their lives.
The shooter reportedly called the emergency services number 911 and pledged allegiance to allegiance to ISIS.
The gunman, who took hostages, was eventually killed by authorities, bringing the deadly siege to an end.
The US president, Barrack Obama called the attack “the brutal murder of dozens of innocent people”.
“It was an act of terror and an act of hate,” he said, adding that it was a heartbreaking day for the LGBT community.
