BREAKING NEWS: SOUTH AFRICA’S PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA has closed Beitbridge border post and 19 other currently open land ports until 15 February 2021.
This is a South Africa lockdown measure to curb the spread of the Covid strain through congestion at border posts. including Beitbridge and Maseru bridge.
President Ramaphosa say’s people will still be allowed to cross the border to transport fuel, commuting for school, repatriations.
Fake Covid-19 testing certificates plus hundreds of people, not wearing masks and lack of social distancing are fuelling the spread of the new strain. More news to follow. Sibusiso Ngwenya.
