ZIMBABWE RETAIL SHOPS CHARGE IN US$, amid shortages of basic commodities such as cooking oil and sugar. a wave of price increases on basic commodities such as mealie-meal, rice, flour, salt, cooking oil, among others due to inflation.
Many retailers have ceased to mark prices, as they continuously change on an hourly basis, a horrible situation that many people never wanted to live through again..
Panic-buying and hoarding is now common as prices soar double or triple regularly, for example a 10kg bag of mealie-meal will go up from ZWL$11,85 to ZWL$18.
In Bulawayo, police maintained a heavy presence around the city amid attempts to block Luveve Road by unknown people, who burnt tyres and sealed off the road on one side of Luveve Road near Happy Valley Centre, situated close to Mzilikazi suburb.
